Downsizing Made Easy

Downsizing Made Easy

If you’re thinking of building a home but are overwhelmed at the magnitude of how much of your life it will consume, then buying a home that’s already partially built is a great alternative. Homeowners are often already exhausted when the time comes to pick out the fun visual aspect of a home like window treatments and decor.

These homeowners bought their home while it was already underway and carried the space on to completion to suit their own style. The home had a contemporary footprint that was warmed with colourful art and Ethan Allen furniture from a previous home. The white walls and bleached floors laid a beautiful foundation to incorporate layers of green. Textured linen drapery framed all the windows in the main living area while colourful prints were selected for the drapery in the bedrooms. Hunter Douglas roller shades were used to filter the light in the bedrooms and textured opaque roller shades allowes for complete privacy in the main living space. Hunter Douglas has an entire range of roller shade fabrics that don’t have an office like feel. In the dining room we used Giselle Dovecoat to pair with the linen drapery and oil rubbed bronze channel rods. The combination of blinds and drapery add layers of texture to any window making the space feel warm and friendly. At nighttime an opaque fabric such as this one offer the needed privacy that regular roller shades cant give. This house welcomed these owners to Kelowna and started them off in a beautiful space that became their home!
