Contemporary Acreage Home

Floor to ceiling sheer in a contemporary living room

Contemporary Homes with linear lines have become the new trend.  Flat roofs, large glass windows, extra high ceilings and concrete floors are design components that belong in these homes but they also create an arduous task of warming up the space.  With large windows comes intense heat and a need to filter the sun.  Last summer Hunter Douglas gave their motorized blinds a complete overhaul by developing new software to operate the shades from an iPad or iPhone.   The new Hub allows for all motorized blinds to be programmed to operate while the homeowner is away.  A built in sun sensor triggers the blinds to open and close on their own so the house can maintain its temperature.   The best part of all is that the cost of this program has gone down! This new system allows for a scaled down version of home automation without having to pay the sometimes high cost attached to it and there’s no hard wiring needed.  If the budget didn’t allow for motorized blinds during the build then there’s still hope for saving up for motorized blinds a few months later.

This home combined sun filtering rollershades with linen sheers to frame the beautiful windows which offered a view of the city.  Floating sheers added an understated presence and backdrop to the large leather sectional.  In the master bedroom rollershades filter the sunlight while custom blackout drapery make the room completely dark at night.  In the ensuite sexy Pirouette® blinds from Hunter Douglas made way to a spa like haven to relax in after a long day.

Window coverings are a valuable component to making a home warm and inviting and this homeowner accomplished just that.
