One of the things I love most about my work is to draw out what my clients interpret as beautiful and design a project around that. Drapery is such a great part of a home’s decor because the fabric is a perfect way to pull together all the colors being used in the space. In the last few years florals and paisleys have made a huge comeback in the design world. A reinvention of traditional prints is being paired with contemporary furniture. Combining the old with the new gives a fresh face to heirloom pieces.
This home had old blinds switched out for Hunter Douglas top-down bottom-up Duette blinds. The patented Architella honeycomb construction make them the highest insulating blind on the market, allowing for heat reduction in the summer and insulation from the cold in the winter. The unique cellular shade traps air in pockets to help keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
The fabric-like feel of the blinds soften a room by allowing the light to play with the texture of the fabric. These blinds were paired with a muted navy paisley linen side panel to capture the homeowners’ love of blue. The dining room chairs were reupholstered in a tweed that hinted the navy hue and was carried through each room as an accent color. With some clever redesign this summer home was brought to life with vibrant color.
