Custom Blackout Drapery for a Penthouse Bedroom

Custom Blackout Drapery for a Penthouse Bedroom

functional blackout drapery in a penthouse master bedroom

When these homeowners downsized into their winter home, selecting a paint colour became more difficult than expected. Having had warm earth tones in their previous home they wanted a change that still worked with their existing furniture but gave an overall lighter feel to their space. The creamy yellow walls became the backdrop to the embroidered ivory fabric that was carefully selected.

When assessing the room it became apparent that functional blackout drapery instead of side panels would be needed. While the penthouse suite offered a beautiful view of the lake, the outdoor lighting remained lit and illuminated their bedroom throughout the night. After only a month of living in the home the owners were ready to move out again! When completed, each bank of windows was framed with blackout drapery that completely darkened the room.

Many people ask what is the best product for blocking light and nothing quite compares to blackout drapery. The fabric reaches far beyond the edges of the window when closed and beautifully frames the window during the day. To complete this room, motorized channel rods were selected in an oil-rubbed bronze finish for minimal effort in operating the drapery. The motor is hidden behind the drapery and plugged into a wall switch close by but can also be hardwired into any home automation system. Motorizing window coverings has been gaining momentum over the last ten years because it brings luxury and simplicity to their operation.
